What being part of the Watoto Program means to the Zummach girls.
Watoto means children in the language of Kiswahili. The Mom2Mom Africa Watoto Program was initiated in February 2014 and designed to ensure the involvement of Canadian children in Mom2Mom Africa events and activities. This program builds into our continued efforts to instill global awareness in our youth. Members of the Watoto Program will have a voice in Mom2Mom Africa initiatives and programs, and will be given the opportunity to volunteer at organizing and coordinating our events.
Contact us if your child would like to be a part of the Watoto Program or to learn more about how you can get involved.
The following Watoto Projects are currently part of our program:

Beth - Birthday donations!
This year, Beth decided she would try to raise $250 for Mom2Mom Africa by asking people to donate rather than purchase gifts for her tenth birthday. The response was overwhelming and she raised more than $600! Way to go Beth! Thank you so much!
Mayha - Summer of Giving!
When 11 year old Mayha started her summer vacation in June, 2016, she knew she wanted to make a difference and support students in Mom2Mom Africa. She took it upon herself to run lemonade stands and stock shelves at a local pharmacy to raise money for our organization. Thank you Mayha! You should be so proud of your work and dedication!
Scarves by Catherine
More than $600 has been raised by Catherine, for our secondary school build, from her scarf project. Each scarf takes 10 hours of Catherine's time to complete and she sells each for $10 to $15. Scarves can be purchased at the Funky Olive Hair Salon in Kitchener or online.
Camryn's Duct Tape Shop
Camryn is working hard on custom-made duct-tape wallets and pens to raise funds for our secondary school build. She has raised $270 so far this summer. Wallets are $10 and flower pens are $5.
Ryleigh's Rainbow Loom Shop
Ryleigh is gearing up to launch her online rainbow loom store. She will make custom-made pencil toppers and backpack clips of your favourite character or sports hero. Examples below include highland dancer clips and a penguin pencil topper. It takes 30 minutes to make one rainbow loom art, and she is selling each one for $5. Contact us for more information.
Isabella and Nevaeh - Birthday Parties with Meaning
Isabella and Nevaeh are sisters who have asked for donations for their friends in Tanzania (Maurine and Janet) in lieu of birthday gifts for the past two years. Together, they have raised close to $1000.
Chloe's Care Package Project
In 2015, Chloe Zummach organized a care package initiative that involved raising funds and assembling packages for each of our students in Tanzania. The students were thrilled to receive their packages! Zuma, and the CHETI teachers, also received gifts.
